How far did the Game of Thrones Go? Expectations vs. Reality
We were all getting crazy for the last few weeks over a TV series that lasted for quite some time now. Eight years is a period long enough to generate expectations and come up with fan theories.
Now that Game of Thrones is over, we have decided to take a little throwback to what people have been expecting to see vs. what they got.
Here we go!
Most respondents (86%) said they believe people will win the final season of Game of Thrones and not the White Walkers. In fact, this expectation became a reality.
Who do you think will win the Game of Thrones and sit on the Iron Throne?
46% of the respondents said they believe Jon Snow will sit on the Iron Throne, with 25% of the respondents believing it will be Daenerys, 17% Bran Stark, and 12% Tyrion Lannister.
Obviously, these expectations did not meet reality just like people’s expectations regarding the last season itself.
Note that when answering the question “Which of these Game of Thrones characters will die first in the final season,” most respondents (38%) have answered “Jon Snow.”
While 39% of the respondents said the last season was “OK,” 33% believe “It’s awful.”
Note that female respondents were more positive about GOT season 8 than males were.
70% of the respondents think that the ending of Game of Thrones was not fair to Jon Snow.
Most of the respondents (42%) think that out of Arya Stark, Tyrion Lannister, Sansa Stark, and Jon Snow; the latter gave the best performance in Game of Thrones.
11% of the respondents didn’t like the final episode of Game of Thrones, and 79% said they hadn’t even watched it.
Most of the respondents think that both the bad storyline and too much rush were the two biggest issues with Game of Thrones season 8.
However, 38% of the respondents are not planning to sign the petition for the remake of the 8th season. In fact, most of them (48%) didn’t even know about the existence of such a petition.
Still, most people are neutral or just don’t consider Game of Thrones a bad show.
I consider Game of Thrones a bad show.
- Strongly agree – 0
- Agree – 22%
- Neutral – 42%
- Disagree – 14%
- Strongly disagree – 22%
Obviously, there is a gap between what most people expected from the GOT finale vs. what they saw. However, there are still two books to come about the story of Game of Thrones, and maybe there is some hope for better plot twists and more emotions. Let’s stay tuned.
