10 Facts you Want to know about the Americans’ Drinking Habits
“I drink to make other people more interesting.”
Is this you or you never ever drink alcohol and your only friend is a bottle of water? In fact, it turns out that water helps to maximize physical performance and has a major effect on energy levels and brain function.
We have decided to see what people usually drink, and so we used TruePublic anonymous voting results for our research.
N1: Most people think they don’t drink enough water.
59% of the respondents think they did not drink enough water today.
Interestingly enough, most male respondents said they had drunk enough water already.
Also, interestingly, among other drinks, people mostly prefer water (48%). Soda comes next with 26% votes, then comes juice (17%) followed by milk (9%).
N2: Coke, Dr. Pepper, and Sprite are leading the way.
Among four different popular drinks, Dr. Pepper 30%, Coke 29%, and Sprite 29% are leading the way with Pepsi getting only 12% of the votes.
There is an interesting twist to the stats though: Millennials and Baby Boomers are more into Coke, while Gen Z and Gen X prefer Sprite.
N3: People prefer coffee over tea.
To the question “Which hot drink do you prefer?” most respondents answered Coffee (54%).
Note that Gen X and Baby Boomers are more inclined towards choosing coffee than Millennials and Gen Z.
Asians and Black people prefer tea over coffee.
N4: Most people either drink coffee with cream and sugar or they don’t drink it at all.

Note that female respondents prefer coffee with cream and sugar more, while most male respondents prefer black coffee.
Gen X and Baby Boomers prefer black coffee more, while most Millennials and Gen Z don’t drink coffee at all.
N5: Hot chocolate is most people’s favorite festive drink.
Among other options, TruePublic users voted for hot chocolate (47%) the most.

N6: Most people would rather a partner who doesn’t like to drink.
70% of the respondents said they would rather a partner who doesn’t like to drink. Note that unlike female respondents, male respondents would more prefer a partner who likes to drink.
N7: Most people would prefer to drink alcohol over smoking marijuana.
Note that Gen Z and Millennials are more inclined towards smoking marijuana than the other age groups are.
N8: Most of the respondents believe that the legal age to drink alcohol should be 18.
Interestingly, most Baby Boomers think that the legal age to drink alcohol should be 21, while other age groups stick to 18.
N9: Most people would choose red wine over white wine.
Although both female and male respondents voted for red wine mostly, more female respondents said they would prefer white wine than male did.
N10: Most people’s go to cocktail is Margarita.
Margarita (58%) is then followed by Old fashioned (20%), Cosmopolitan (14%), and Moscow mule (8%).
Note that male respondents are more into old fashioned cocktails than females are.
People just love water but still, they believe they don’t drink it enough. And in the coffee-tea duo, most respondents prefer coffee. Wine is a good idea too and red wine always wins. As for cocktails, most people prefer Margarita. But tastes differ mainly based on gender and age.
